Author: Lesslie Newbigin brings to this work his experience as a pastor, missionary, theologian, ecumenical statesman, and writer. He is a visionary thinker who applies wisdom to experience. His writing is Christ-centered, Trinitarian framework, biblical, and missionally-informed.

Compiler: Paul Weston is a tutor in homiletics and mission studies at Cambridge. He has researched Newbigin extensively. From Weston’s perspective, Newbigin’s whole body of work speaks still today and ought to be heard.

After a 13-page biography, the work is divided into two parts. Part one introduces Newbigin’s theological foundations for mission and includes extracts from his early works. Part two introduces Newbigin’s thoughts on missionary theology in practice and includes extracts from his later works. Each chapter or part-chapter has an introduction and recommended readings by Weston.

Weston intends “…to introduce the thinking of Lesslie Newbigin to a larger audience by making available extracts from a wide variety of his writings” (p.vii).
